The Lapsation Committee has been busy contacting members who have not yet paid their 2010-2011 Membership Dues. As well, "Second Notices" have been sent out. Your cooperation in getting your dues paid would be greatly appreciated as we have already paid the Grand Lodge per capita fees and the North Carolina State fees for this year. Also, if you have not paid your dues according to Grand Lodge Statues you are not permitted to enter the Lodge or be a guest of a full dues paying member.

HOUSE COMMITTEE NEWS

We hope that by finding out what the House Committee and Lodge is planning then perhaps you will participate and help the Lodge to obtain its goal of charity.

If there is something that you would like to say to the House Committee you can contact me, you will be invited to the next meeting and allowed to speak your mind. You could give it to us in writing and we will take any and all suggestions under advisement. Without your help by supporting our lodge we will not be one.

Over the last two months the participation in the Friday night dinners has increased. The House Committee has decided to have two meals in May and June at a fee of between $8.00 and $9.00. Please see the dinner menus and dates for further information. These meals have been big success during the past several months. With your support they can be even bigger. Just think you as a member of this Lodge can help by coming to the lodge one day a week and have lunch and perhaps one Friday night dinner per month. By doing this you can help your lodge.

During the past several months the House Committee coordinated the support group. This group, although small, is doing a big job (Room set up, kitchen help during lunches, kitchen clean up, etc.). However, we need more help in this area. We must remember why we joined the ELKS. Volunteers are what we are all about. We have five new volunteers that are now helping us out. The house committee would like to thank all of the volunteers for all of their help over the past two months. Keep up the good work. The House Committee is looking for some volunteers to help in the kitchen during the week running food from the kitchen to the bar. Lunch time has been getting very busy. If you can help please call 910-287-6586 and let us know when you are available.

(HOUE COMMITTEE NEWS CONTINUED)
How we are able to support the charity work of the Calabash ELKS Lodge. It is hard to believe that of the 900 members that live in the immediate area there is only 2% of that membership that continually help. Let's get together and raise that percentage to 3%. Will you be one of the members that help? If would like to help the support group please come to our next meeting scheduled for May 20, 2010, at 7PM, or call me at 910-287-6586.

We will be starting the 50/50 again in April with the proceeds going to our next project of replacing the carpet in the bar.

Recently the Lodge sponsored the Jim Rochel Ice Box Open, which turned out to be a great success. There were some 40 hole sponsors and numerous merchants that contributed to the success of this golf outing. As members of the Lodge I would encourage each of you to visit the merchants and hole sponsors and thank them for all of their help in supporting the Calabash Elks Lodge in our charitable work. There are two pages as part of this newsletter that list the hole sponsors and merchants. They have supported you please support them.

Starting in May the bar hours will be changing. The bar will be open until 9PM Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. All other hours will remain the same.
